Implemented between 2021 and 2025 with funding from Norway’s International Climate and Forest Initiative (NICFI), the project generated integrated scientific and Indigenous knowledge on carbon dynamics and governance in Indigenous Territories (ITs) and Natural Protected Areas (NPAs).

In 2025, the project focused on translating this evidence into policy-relevant messages and supporting advocacy processes at global, regional, and national levels. It provided tools and approaches to support local stewardship of forest carbon and improve understanding of forest dynamics, strengthened legal protections for ITs and NPAs, and promoted locally tailored strategies in Pilot Landscapes (PALs).
